Invited by Basel Social Club, Protoplast participates in the fifth edition, titled “Office,” June 14–20, 2026, presented by Kaiserwache (Freiburg im Breisgau). Founded in 2022, the non-profit initiative has become one of the most anticipated events during Art Basel week, each year transforming an unconventional site into a space for exhibitions, performances, and social exchange.

Kaiserwache, an artist-run space for contemporary art housed in a former public restroom from 1906 in Freiburg im Breisgau, is kindly supported by the Kulturamt Freiburg as an independent art institution. Kaiserwache is currently hosting a solo exhibition by the Swiss artist collective Protoplast, invited by curator Ilja Zaharov. The opening took place on 27 March. The exhibition runs until 26 April 2026 and can be visited by appointment.

A new art poster campaign by the artist collective Protoplast will be presented by Galerie Sammlung Amann, Stuttgart. The project unfolds across public billboards in the Basel region during the ART BASEL fair, from June 18 to 21, 2026.

A group exhibition bringing together five artist collectives will be hosted by FABRIKculture in Alsace in October 2026, curated by Benny Kammüller and director Clément Stehlin. Inspired by the widely noted issue of KUNSTFORUM International, Vol. 285 (2022): „All together now! Kunst im Kollektiv”, the exhibition serves as a platform for diverse collective practices and spatial approaches. Selected by a jury from 36 international submissions, the participating collectives are: ADO & COMENIUS (Basel), COM & COM (Zürich), GISLER/GÄHWILER (Luzern), OUEST-LUMIERE (Paris), and PROTOPLAST (Basel). A solo exhibition by Protoplast is planned for November 2026 at CANK in Berlin-Neukölln, curated by Fabian Braunbeck. Housed in a former department store on Karl-Marx-Straße, the striking late-modernist building has become an iconic landmark in the Kiez, offering expansive exhibition spaces across several floors. Protoplast will present new work on the second floor of this remarkable venue. Further details will be published here as they become available.

The filmmaker and artist Marcel Scheible is working on a documentary called "Merkwürdige Dreiecke" about a notorious geographic triangle in Basel, including scenes about Protoplast. The film is being produced by point de vue - a member of SFP - Swiss Film Producers Association. The development of this documentary is supported by institutions such as the "Fachausschuss Film und Medienkunst der Kantone Basel-Stadt und Basel-Landschaft". In spring 2027, curator Mirela Stoeac-Vlăduți at META Spațiu in Timișoara will present new works by the Protoplast artist collective. Since its founding in 2016, the META Spațiu art association has been developing contemporary art projects featuring Romanian and international artists, offering an insightful perspective on the Central European art scene. The exhibition opens on Thursday, March 11, 2027.

Petra Noll-Hammerstiel has invited Protoplast to present a new exhibition at KORRIDOR – Raum für aktuelle Kunst in Vienna from 14 April 2027. With a practice grounded in photography, Protoplast engages in a close dialogue with Noll-Hammerstiel’s curatorial focus on conceptual and time-sensitive lens-based art at KORRIDOR, which presents only two exhibitions per year.

A solo exhibition by Protoplast is planned for 2026 at an art institute in the mountains of Trun, Grisons (Switzerland), invited by curator Esther Spycher. Details will be announced here as soon as they become available.

Galerie Jakob, founded in Stuttgart in 2025 as the successor to the historically renowned Galerie Wiedmann and directed by curator Dajana Eisele, will present new works and mixed media paintings by Protoplast in this young art gallery. An artwork for public space in the city of Stuttgart may also be developed. The opening is planned for September 2027 to launch the autumn season for Stuttgart’s art galleries. Invited by curator Thomas Sterna, Protoplast will present a new site-specific installation at Der Mixer in Frankfurt am Main. Originally founded as an art gallery in 2017, Der Mixer has since evolved into an art association (Kunstverein) dedicated to experimental and spatial practices. A work may also be developed in and for the public space of Frankfurt. Further details will be announced here as they become available.
